You have six types of files!
They are all color coded. A colored box next to a
file means it's an executable file. Just click the
RIGHT mouse button to RUN the file.
RED Box........Executable program file
BLUE Box.......Executable text file
MAGENTA Box....Compressed file (ZIP, LZW, LZH, ARJ)
GREEN Box......GIF (graphic picture)
AQUA Folder....Directory
YELLOW Paper...Program file (used by executable file)
Here is where you would go to create a new directory,
or turn on the [View Hidden Directory] option.
If you would like to delete a directory? Just hi-light
the directory and click on DELETE. See DELETE *
This will Tag ALL the files in the directory you are
now currently in. Tagging allows you to work with
more then one file at a time (Group Commands-TAGGED).
Tag works with.. (Copy/Delete/Move/Find)
This will Untag ALL the files in the current
directory. Tagging allows you to work with more
then one file at a time.
Tag works with.. (Copy/Delete/Move/Find)
This will COPY a file (or group of files-TAGGED)
to any drive or directory you select.
This will DELETE any file (or group of files-TAGGED)
in the directory you are currently in.
CAUTION!! It will also DELETE a hi-lighted directory
with all the directories files! ** BE CAREFUL **
RENAME will Rename any File or Directory to any
12 character (alphanumeric) <name> you like.
See DOS Manual on correct file & directory names!
CAUTION! DO NOT put a SPACE in a file or directory
name! DO NOT start a name with these characters below.
. , `
period comma diphthong
They are used as identifiers in this program.
Moving a file, will MOVE the file to the drive or
directory you select, and then delete it from the
directory that you are currently in.
With the LABEL option, you can [Name or Rename]
the drive or diskette you are currently viewing.
This is called the Drive's Volume Label and is used
as an identifier for you to distinguish drives.
INFO will show you information on the hi-lighted file
or directory. This will include the file's name, size,
date, time, attribute, and PATH (if FIND is used).
The VIEW option allows you to view the hi-lighted file
with a TEXT viewer and automatically detects ARChived
(ZIP, ARJ, & LZH) compressed files.
Clicking on SET will allow you to change Text Viewers
as often as you like.
**
You MUST have a TEXT viewer for this option!
It MUST be in a directory on your PATH command in your
AUTOEXEC.BAT file to work properly. See DOS Manual
The EDIT option allows you to EDIT the hi-lighted file
with an Editing program.
Hi-lighting an archived program invokes archiver.
Clicking on SET will allow you to change editors as
often as you like, and SET the [ALL MEMORY] option.
**
You MUST have an EDITOR for this option!
It MUST be in a directory on your PATH command in your
AUTOEXEC.BAT file to work properly. See DOS Manual
CAUTION! Because of the size of the program, you will
need an editor 200k or smaller! OR.. Use [ALL MEMORY]
This option allows you to ARCHIVE (compress) a hi-
lighted file with 14 bit Lempel-Zev-Welch compression.
Archiving is a great way to reduce the size of a file
by up to 70% to save valuable Hard Drive space.
**
The Compressed OUTPUT file will have a; .LZW EXT.
The UNcompressed OUTPUT file will have a; .TMP EXT.
You can then [Rename] the files to whatever you like.
This will UN-COMPRESS a file that was archived
(compressed) by the Built-In Archiver, and restore
it to its original size and state.
This allows (TAG)ging of a group of files.
Hi-light the file, and then Click on TAG to mark
[include] the file in a group command.
For added power, combine with FILE SPEC or FIND!
Commands that work with (Tag) are:
(Copy/Delete/Move/Find)
See Also TAG +
This will UNTAG the hi-lighted file.
[exclude it from group commands]
See Also TAG -
UNDEL is a very handy option that allows you to
Un-delete (Un-erase) the LAST file you deleted,
regardless of the current drive or directory.
The file is saved to a directory called PHIDE
(which is hidden), and resides off the ROOT
of C drive.
See... View Hidden [Directories].
Once a month you will be asked to erase these files.
CAUTION! By turning OFF the SAFETY features, you
disable this feature!
FIND is a very powerful option! It allows you to
find any file or group of files (wildcards allowed)
on a complete drive or diskette, and manipulate them
as if they are in one directory!
This includes files with the same name!
This allows you to CHANGE drives or diskettes.
You may either roll the mouse Up & Down, or use
the Up & Down Arrow keys to select a Drive.
Left Button = Select or ENTER = Select
Here you can ENTER a specific [FILE SPEC]ification.
Say you ONLY want to see the executable files (EXE).
You would enter a File Specification of: *.EXE
or, you wanted to see all the files that begin with
TEST, and end in TXT, you could type: TEST????.TXT
SET Allows you to change Editors or Viewer!
OR set the Memory to, ALL MEMORY for 640k programs!
Drop to DOS will bring you to the DOS prompt so
you could enter a DOS Command manually.
Type EXIT to return to this program!
ESC returns you to Plethora!
These are your Drive Specifications!
It shows the drive you are on, the directory
you are in, the space used by that directory,
the bytes available on the drive, total bytes
of the drive, the drives Volume name, and the
number of files in the current directory.
The PATH is displayed here! This is the PATH
to the current directory. Only 48 characters
are shown at a time.
This is your TAGGED file, Status Box!
Displayed are the number of tagged files, the
total bytes of all tagged files, and the total
bytes that have not yet been tagged.
With the SAFETY feature turned ON, you get a
second chance to confirm a command.
With the SAFETY feature turned OFF, you will
speed up file process, but you lose the added
security of that second chance.
CAUTION! Because of the time involved for you to
answer each time for a group of tagged files to
be deleted, the SAFETY feature does NOT work with
TAGGED DELETES! It will just delete them!
REFRESH Updates the directory so you can view a
NEW directory if you have added one. Or for any
reason you need a new screen update.
This will change the hi-lighted FILE's time and date.
Click here for the current time.
This will PRINT the hi-lighted file with NO formatting!
The SCROLL-BAR allows you to scroll the files one
page at a time, either up or down, and gives you
an idea of how many pages there are in the current
directory. Also available are the Arrow Keys!
